Chakra -- Colors and Purposes

The colors and purposes of the seven major chakras:
  1.  The Root Chakra – located at the base of the spine in the perineum area, this chakra is red in color symbolizing energy and physical. It is the chakra closest to the earth and easily draws red, earth-energy into the body for strength and stamina. It is through the chakra that we find grounding and balance. The Root Chakra is primarily concerned with the basics in life -- food, shelter and clothing -- and all the other ingredients in life that focus on the survival of humanity, such as procreation and family.
  2.  The Sacral Chakra – located in the sacral area of the body (resting between the pelvic bones and above the pubic bone but below the navel) is orange in color and represents the pleasures, creativity, and enjoyment of life. It is the chakra of choices and preferences. It is significant that this chakra is between the red root chakra and the yellow solar plexus chakra as the colors red and yellow produces the color orange. On a spiritual level this blending of colors signifies that a balance must exist between the root issues (family, work, and survival) and the solar plexus issues (the summation of who we are) to find enjoyment and success in life.
  3.  The Solar Plexus Chakra – located in the area above the navel and under the breast bone is yellow in color like the sun. The solar plexus chakra is concerned with deeply understanding our true natures and that we are physical beings. It is about being OK with ourselves. When we are OK with ourselves, we can easily find the perfect work and love which enables us to find our life path.
  4.  The Heart Chakra – located in the area of the physical heart is green in color. It is concerned with growth -- spiritual, emotional, and physical -- as well as love. Understanding love is our primary goal. We must love and accept ourselves, love others, and love God/Divine mind before we can see and love the Divine in others. The heart chakra is seeing oneness in all things.
  5. The Throat Chakra – located in the hollow of the throat or on the male Adam’s apple is sky blue in color. This chakra is concerned with truth – speaking the truth and hearing the truth. When we realize we are multi-dimensional beings (body, mind, and soul) we begin to live in integrity, the state of being complete or undivided, whole.
  6. The Third-Eye Chakra – located on the brow between the two natural eyes is dark blue or lapis lazuli in color. The third-eye chakra is concerned with seeing and knowing what benefits us to attain our life path and goals.
  7.  The Crown Chakra – located on the crown of the head is either amethyst or crystal in color or a combination of both. It is our connection to Divine mind and is the way we communicate with God/Universe. It is our means of downloading information that is essential to living the life of our dreams and mastering our goals.

There are many other chakras located throughout the body and around the body. It has been estimated that there are 49 that can be named and located; however, anyone wanting to know more about chakras should first start with the seven major chakras and master the understanding behind each one.

Stay tuned for more next week!

Love and light,
Chariss
